The 4395 cm³ eight-cylinder engine delivers a power output of 397 kW (540 hp) at a moderate 5200 to 6250 rpm and a maximum torque of 730 Nm between 2800 to 5000 rpm. The Bi-Turbo engine concept consist of two ALPINA-specific turbochargers arranged in the V of the engine that operate in parallel. They are equipped with high-performance, flow-optimised vanes and housings. The turbochargers provide maximum torque over a wide rpm range and also ensure instantaneous response at low engine speeds. The indirect intercooling system with short intake paths and flow-optimised charge-air routing is responsible for highly efficient operation. The high-performance system guarantees thermally adequate cooling by means of a large-volume low-temperature intercooler and close-coupled intercoolers. The other media cooling required due to the high power output is realised by means of large-capacity oil and coolant radiators located behind the front spoiler. MAHLE high-performance pistons run in the cylinders and are specially matched to the thermodynamic loads of the engine, which is charged to 1.2 bar and has a compression ratio of 10.0:1.Petrol direct injection, VALVETRONIC and BMW Efficient Dynamics technologies such as the Auto Start Stop function make it possible to achieve a combined fuel consumption in accordance with the ECE norm of only 9.4 to 10.4 l/100 km and emissions of 219 to 242 g/km CO2, depending on model.


The all-wheel drive system uses the technical possibilities of the BMW xDrive system, whose intelligent and dynamic control system distributes output smoothly and fully variably between the front and rear axles in milliseconds, thereby ensuring maximum traction and superior performance in all driving situations. The torque distribution control system, which is interconnected with the engine management and chassis control systems, is performance-oriented. It significantly increases driving dynamics and agility, particularly during high lateral acceleration and guarantees sporty and neutral handling. Besides ensuring optimal traction during acceleration by preventing slip-related losses, the system also permanently monitors the driving conditions and actively distributes torque to always ensure a high degree of propulsion and safety at all times, e.g. on snow or road surfaces with abrupt changes in the friction coefficients.



Exhaust System

The construction and design of the stainless steel exhaust system guarantees an elegant, powerful look and a very emotional soundtrack. A reduction of the silencer volume optimises the flow of exhaust gases and saves weight. The special design of the system also focuses on acoustics and does not disappoint, producing a powerful, bass driven eight cylinder soundtrack.
