• Auto Bild and Motorworld grant award to the ALPINA company biography
• “OAL-BB 50 – THE ALPINA BOOK” counts among the best brand-specific literary publications in the automobile industry
• In the book, author Paolo Tumminelli provides an anecdotal look behind the scenes of the unique automobile manufactory

On the 3rd of May 2017 the first-ever Auto Bild Book Awards were held to identify and select the best books on cars and mobility. “OAL-BB 50 – THE ALPINA BOOK”, which was produced for the company's 50th anniversary, was one of the main books recognised.

Christian Steiger, a member of the Autobild main editorial office and Jürgen Lewandowski, chairman of the jury, awarded the 2017 prizes at the Motorworld facility in Böblingen. Andreas Bovensiepen, son of ALPINA company founder Burkard Bovensiepen, and author Paolo Tumminelli personally accepted the second prize in the category of brand-specific publications for the book which covers the company history in great detail. Andreas Bovensiepen is very pleased with the recognition that the book has received: “An incredible amount of time, energy and commitment went into creating this book. As the author, Professor Tumminelli was involved in a very intensive exchange with my father, my brother and myself, but also with our life-long employees. The creation and development of the company and its many aspects as well as the ALPINA marque are aptly and charmingly presented in this book. I would like to sincerely thank everyone involved for their enthusiastic cooperation and the jury for the selection of OAL-BB 50.”

In its reasoning, the jury said of the ALPINA “bible”: “Fifty years ago, Burkard Bovensiepen made the decision to accompany the rise of the BMW company and design his own vehicles which corresponded to his ideas of exclusive, sporty and top-of-the-line automobiles. Burkard Bovensiepen substantiated this aspiration over many years with successful racing cars. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the company has presented itself a corporate history that impressively combines content and form – the result is a successful example of a remarkable and convincing company biography.”

The Auto Bild Book Award is presented with the kind support of the Motorworld Group. The jury, headed by automobile book author and motor journalist Jürgen Lewandowski, is made up of high-calibre professionals: Bernd Wieland, Editor-in-Chief of Auto Bild, Christian Steiger, member of the main editorial office at Auto Bild, Andreas Dünkel, Managing Director of Motorworld Stuttgart region, Dr. Angelika Nollert, Head of the Design Museum New Collection Munich, Konstantin Grcic, industrial designer, and Stefan Sielaff, Chief Designer at Bentley.
