BMW ALPINA B3 GT

The BMW ALPINA B3 GT

GRAN TURISMO – BORN AND MADE IN BUCHLOE

GT - an abbreviation that stands for particularly desirable automobiles in the ALPINA nomenclature.

Explosive power delivery, outstanding driving performance, agile driving dynamics paired with distinctive driving comfort - the latest evolutionary stage is a manifestation of the ALPINA philosophy. The sense for the extraordinary is reflected in special details, implemented in traditional craftsmanship in our automobile manufactory in Buchloe.

SALOON

It only takes 3.4 seconds for the Saloon to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, sprinting on through the 200 km/h mark in only 11.6 seconds to finally reach a top speed of 308 km/h.

TOURING

The Touring can reach a top speed of 305 km/h, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and sprints through the 200 km/h mark in only 12.0 seconds.

More power, excellent response

The 3.0 litre inline six-cylinder engine with bi-turbocharging from the current BMW ALPINA 3 and 4 Series, praised for its smooth power delivery, benefits in the GT version from an increase in output of 34 hp to now offer a total of 389 kW (529 hp). In countless development kilometres on the test bench and on the road, the ALPINA engineers have revised the engine mapping to ensure that the performance and power reserves (max. 730 Nm) are available in every driving situation and thus underline the superior character of the drivetrain.

An 8-Speed Sport Automatic Transmission in combination with the fully variable all-wheel drive system and an electronically controlled rear limited slip differential ensure that the increased power is efficiently translated into driving dynamics. In keeping with the GT character of the drivetrain, the programming of the transmission has been revised to match the potential of the increased power output.

Precision and Comfort

The BMW ALPINA B3 GT models profit from a BMW 3 Series update which sees a stiffer connection between the rear dampers and the bodyshell which improves driving dynamics. ALPINA dome-bulkhead reinforcement struts in the front end provide additional rigidity and noticeably increase steering precision. The BMW ALPINA B3 GT saloon receives a larger dimensioned rear stabiliser for better roll support and improved steering response.

Similarly, special attention was concentrated on ensuring that the ride comfort does not suffer as a consequence of improved dynamics – which is why the ALPINA engineers opted for a new shock absorber configuration. The GT characteristics are thus fully reflected in the chassis set-up: precise vehicle feedback for enhanced driving dynamics goes hand in hand with pronounced ride comfort and composure that has always been associated with the ALPINA brand.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

On the exterior, the BMW ALPINA B3 GT exhibits several edition-specific features that unmistakably identify them as special GT models.

The distinctive front apron is now accentuated by small canards and splitter for optimised aerodynamics.

In combination with the newly designed, more prominent rear diffuser in high-gloss black, these exterior changes create a very good balance between the front and rear axles
