BMW mild hybrid technology, which delivers a notice- able performance boost especially in the lower speed range also maximises the efficiency of the high-performance engine. These attributes make the BMW ALPINA D4 S the ideal everyday com- panion for high-mileage drivers who value low fuel consumption but do not want to compromise on performance and dynamics. The straight-six 3.0 litre engine with Bi-Turbo charging offers a maximum output of 261 kW (355 hp). ATHLETIC ELEGANCE The BMW ALPINA D4 S Gran Coupé is characterised by an ex- pressive, elegant design with an elongated silhouette and flowing roofline. The ALPINA front spoiler accentuates the athletic front, while at the rear an unobtrusive spoiler takes up the elegant coupé lines. The rear also features four oval tailpipes of the ALPINA sport exhaust system, a long-standing hallmark of the brand, between which a rear diffusor is neatly integrated.
ALPINA CLASSIC The progressive wheel design of the BMW ALPINA D4 S picks up on the distinctive shape of the body. Twenty delicate spokes run from the centre of the wheel, which features a lockable wheel hub cap, to the outer rim. The wheel is manufactured in a complex forging process, which results in a weight of only 12 kg, quite remarkable for a wheel size of 20”.
The standard equipment of the BMW ALPINA D4 S is class leading and includes comfort features such as seat and steering wheel heating but also the latest BMW assistance systems like the Parking and Driving Assistant including Speed Limit Assist, Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Warning. The BMW ALPINA D4 S interior can also be upgraded to a complete bespoke LAVALINA leather upholstery. The naturally tanned leather is in a quality class of its own in the automotive segment, and is prized for both its supple softness and its temperature-balancing properties. In ALPINA’s in-house leather workshop, even the most unique customer wishes can be made reality by master craftsmen.
ALL-WHEEL DRIVE • The all-wheel drive is based on the BMW xDrive system, which allows for a fully variable torque distribution between the front and rear axle. As befits the athletic character of the BMW ALPINA D4 S, the torque distribution is rear-wheel biased. • LIMITED-SLIP DIFFERENTIAL The electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential ensures optimal traction and agility, especially during dynamic cornering. WHEELS • The ALPINA CLASSIC 20“ wheel is manufactured in a complex forging process, which results in a weight of only 12 kg. TYRES • The Pirelli P ZERO (ALP) ultra-high performance tyres offer high levels of grip and lateral support. • HIGH-PERFORMANCE COOLING SYSTEM • BRAKE SYSTEM Underbody air channels leading to the cooling package increase cooling performance. Four-piston fixed brake callipers with Ø 395 mm (15.6“) brake discs at the front axle and floating brake callipers with Ø 345 mm (13.6“) brake discs at the rear axle, offer generous safety reserves.
48-VOLT STARTER GENERATOR • With electrical power of up to 8 kW (11 hp) instantly available, the BMW mild hybrid tech- nology not only enhances the efficiency of the high-performance diesel engine but also its dynamic response. ENGINE • The straight-six 3.0 litre engine with Bi-Turbo charging offers an impressive output of 261 kW (355 hp) and a maximum torque of 730 Nm (538 lb-ft). • VARIABLE SPORTS STEERING The variable sports steering offers direct steering feel and feedback. The driver can choose between three steering modes: COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+. • EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT A diesel oxidation catalyst and SCR coating in the diesel particulate filter together with an engine-near SCR system and two SCR catalysts with AdBlue® injection provide for reduction of the nitrogen oxides contained in the diesel exhaust. ALPINA SPORT SUSPENSION • A negative camber of 1.25° at the front axle in combination with a specially developed front-axle anti-roll bar increase lateral dynamics significantly. • TRANSMISSION The 8-Speed Sport Automatic Transmission from the 8HP76 generation is specifically adapted to the torquey drivetrain, offering both outstanding shift comfort and shift dynamics.
